Is Your 2022 Staffing Plan In Place?

As a busy manager, you have deadlines to hit and projections to make. With so much day-to-day work that has to be completed, it can be hard to get all of the long-term planning done that you’d like. But it is never too late to make a staffing plan. Doing so now can save your organization money and provide you with the talent support you need when your business needs it.

If you aren’t sure how to get started with your staffing plan, or if you could use a few solutions on how to solve the talent shortage at your company, talk to an employment expert at Staffing Network. Some of the following factors may need to be considered.

Organizational Workflows and Seasonal Hires

Every business has a cycle. Publications that are produced every quarter will follow a three-month workflow while companies that promote items for the holiday season will feel the pressure rise in the summer and continue until the end of the calendar year.

Look over the past months or years and see if you can clearly see a cycle of when you were short staffed or found yourself needing to bring in temporary employees or other forms of support staff. When you anticipate the need for seasonal hires, you can put a plan in place to be sure those positions are filled before the time arises and avoid being overstaffed when you don’t need it.

Staff Vacation Schedules and Individuals Taking Leave

On top of seasonal hires, a staffing plan can help managers navigate changes to the schedules of full-time employees. After all, staff members will take vacations, need time to recover from an illness, grow their families with the birth of a child, or need time off to cope with a personal or family issue.

While it may not be possible to get your staffing levels at an ideal level all the time, having a staffing plan in place means you can quickly and efficiently solve staffing issues when they arise.

For example, temporary staff can provide support when you need it. Temp workers also can provide flexibility when you are considering a new hire, meaning you can bring in temporary support and determine if another staff member is better for your bottom line. Another hire could reduce overtime. Then, you could discuss the possibility of creating a new permanent position with your organization’s leadership team.

Staffing Plans and Human Resource Departments

Additionally, once you have a plan in place you can discuss it with your company’s HR department. HR often has its own crunch times. So even if you know you want to bring on a new hire, you may choose to enlist a temp worker while your HR staff is busy with the benefit season. Then, the staffing firm will take care of all of the behind-the-scenes paperwork so you can have a talented individual on your team as soon as possible.
